For a while I was drawing a picture like this every day just to get some practice in. (I have always felt that drawing is where I need the most improvement.) These are a few that I like.
I should mention that this last one I drew from a book by Chris Hart. (he is awsome by the way)
These are from my scetchbook when I was in art 1010. We were to take objects and give them one source of light. Then we were only to draw shadows. My favorites are the little tribal animal carvings that Betsy got in Africa.
Some of these are chess pieces to a set I am working on. This is the king. His sword has real gold on the surface, the beads are hematite and the chain on his boot is sterling silver.
These dwarfs were the castle pieces. They have the same silver chains and hematite beads as the king. And their capes are rabbit fur.
These dragons are the knights.
These are the pawns. They had more hair but the clay I use is pretty brittle and they have broken.
In Richard's family they started a tradition of making presents for each other for Christmas, which gave Richard plenty of opportunities to put his artistic hobbies to use. This particular year he decided to make a Santa Clause for his sister, Becky. He took the clothes off another Santa, and then created the face, beard, boots, and gloves. He also padded the clothes to finish off the look of the Santa. Here is the finished result:
Richard put this guy together using all wire for an art class he had. The assignment was to create mass using only wire. Sadly, you can't see the face or the bun of this guy to well in these pictures, but they were well done! We had to get rid of him because he took up to much space, otherwise I'd try to get some better pics. If you open the bottom one you can almost see the face.
